How it all began…

Where did the Repmac idea start?

I met Dan over 5 years ago when I needed some help finishing a building project. Dan was a new 'Vanlifer' and we traded somewhere to park for a while, for some help with the project. What was supposed to take a few weeks took a bit longer, mainly due to me being as ever a little over optimistic, however a longer period of time working together forged a friendship that has lasted into our most recent project together.

Dan had converted his own van into a camper with a view to living and traveling in it full time. I had purchased a motorhome to take my growing family travelling around the world. Shocked by the expensive and not always good value products available for motorhomes but particularly self-converters, Dan and I set about our mission to design and manufacture some products under our own brand now called Repmac. The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that Repmac is 'Camper' spelled backwards and when time allows we will play around with this some more.

Team Repmac working with our manufacturing partner have now prototyped, perfected and manufactured a range of windows for the self-converter. We also have a range of complimenting black-out blinds and fly screens. Our values lie in quality, practicality and durability.

Both Dan and I now have experience of self-converting and living unconventional lives. With this experience and knowledge we hope to offer great service and technical support to our customers to enable you to fulfil your self-conversion dream. More importantly we are confident that our products are great quality and will stand the test of time whether you're conversion is a full-time live in vehicle or a weekend getaway.

Welcome to Repmac - Precision Components for Life on the Move.

This is us…

All both of us - no Investors, partners, agents, contractors or third-parties. Everything from design, development, testing, logistics, sales, media, communications, packaging and making the brews - it’s all direct from us, to you.

  • I’m Mat, Co-Founder and Director here at Repmac.

My professional background lies in the Construction Industry and Technical Sales, but here at Repmac my professional skills and hobbies come together. I have always been a keen hobby mechanic and engineering is my passion. From a young age I have had an interest in how things work and finding solutions to solve problems. As a young man you would always find me making, repairing or building something. Not much different to now really!

Here at Repmac I am responsible for product development and working with our manufacturers to ensure that the Repmac vision of quality, durability and practicality continue to shine through in our products. We are a small enterprise, just Dan and I right now, oh and some help from willing friends! This means you will also find me answering the phone and replying to you when you get in touch.

I have a passion for detail and some might say that my perfectionism is extreme. I love great customer service and will endeavour to drive this ethos into Repmac as we grow.

At home, life is busy. I live together with my wife and our five children. We are part way through a long term vintage bus to motorhome conversion project as well as an unusual house renovation project! Despite my best plans we are currently considering how to integrate a fifth bed into the bus after making four pretty cool bunks and then being fortunate enough to welcome our fifth child into the world. Best laid plans…. I am a sucker for all things vintage and we also have a forty year old motorhome ready for some serious renovation and love. We will of course integrate some Repmac products into the renovation - watch this space.

Anyway, I hope you will love our products as much as we do. Dan and I are here to answer your queries and advise on the suitability of our products for your projects. We look forward to hearing from you.

  • If you can fix a skateboard, you can fix a bike, and if you can fix a bike, you can fix a car, and if you can fix a car…. remember those adverts? I’m probably showing my age there, which I otherwise hide convincingly with my youthful complexion.

I’m Dan, the other Director here at Repmac. I grew up as a third-generation mechanic, spending my youth fixing skateboards, bikes and cars, before my career took a very different path - no, I didn’t join the navy - I donned a suit and tie, and set off on a steady 20 year trajectory of accounts, finance, auditing, and analytics, before writing my final resignation letter and driving off into the sunset in my self-built 4-wheeled home, to give this Vanlife thing a go.

Of course, that was 2019, so it wasn’t so much sunsets, as it was social distancing. Soon after hitting the road I met Mat, and we forged a friendship of personal projects and putting the world to rights, before parting ways temporarily to head for opposite corners of the continent.

6 years on, older and wis… no just older, still living off grid, our own projects have gotten bigger and grander - and now with Repmac in full swing too, I think it’s fair to say we’ve both fully embraced the respective lifestyles, utilising our combined past and present experience and expertise to bring a truly worthwhile range of products and service to your projects.

We look forward to working with you!

    Dan
